We seek renewed reverence for the biosphere as
the ultimate context for human existence....

Harold Woodis one of the founding members of the Universal Pantheist Society. He serves on the Society's Board of Directors as Membership Secretary and is editor of the Society's quarterly, "Vision". The Pantheist as FuturistThe heart of Pantheist philosophy is a belief in the sanctity of Nature. This means that we hold reverence for the inconceivable evolutionary processes that created us; for the unfolding of the stars in the Universe and the life on our home planet Earth. In short - we put our faith in our Creator - meaning not only all past events and shapes and patterns, but also the now , for Creation is a continuing process and exists within us and around us this very instant. Varieties of Pantheist WorshipReligious experience for Pantheists is simply more likely to occur during times of our personal immersion in Nature - physically and mentally - rather than merely because the date on the calendar (which is itself derived from non-pantheist religion) reflects a certain anniversary or astronomical event. We should, therefore, be cautious in placing undue reliance on religious "holidays" as a validation of our faith. Pantheist Ethics for PeopleThe Pantheist, in recognizing an unity with the Universe, knows that to hurt the earth is to hurt oneself. To fail to respect all life forms is to fail to respect the human life form. For the Pantheist, the maxim "Love thy neighbor as yourself" has a special meaning, for "neighbor" is understood to mean both humanity and non-humanity alike. |
