I Am Tree

To say "I am tree"
By Robb Miller

To say "I am tree"
Doth make one vocal, yet a tree not.

Root must be planted firmly within Earth.
Branches strong yet yielding to the wind.
Leaves must reach endlessly to life-giving Sun.
And, the whole must never turn from an offering of water.

One must accept
rocky soil, gale wind, unyielding sun, and scarce water
as part of being.

To neglect any of of these truths
Makes said tree a tree not.

Effortless it is to say tree.
Involved it is to be.
